Harmood School - We welcome you to Harmood School

Harmood Art Students Visit British Museum.

Posted on: 28th Aug 2023

Last term, our art students were very excited to be visiting the British Museum – an amazing building filled with beautiful artworks, costumes, instruments, weapons, sculptures.

The students have been working on creating patterns in art, using different techniques and looking at the work of artists like Sonia Delaunay. Their trip was to gather inspiration, by viewing the Museum's wonderful African collection. They were specially pleased to be given a private tour by a professional artist!

The students collected lots of design resources by selecting motifs and images from the inspiring displays and sketching them. Once we got back to school, we selected the best of our sketches and transferred them to poly print tiles and printed them.

This was their first art trip since the pandemic – and it was a great success, with some of our students saying they'd love to go back. Well done to all our students on their enthusiasm and great behaviour.

If you haven't been to the British Museum it's well worth making time – and it's completely free! Find out more on the link below.
