English Students Shine During Exam Season

Posted on: 11th Jul 2026

This term has been focused on what many students are most nervous about: their exams. But, true to form, our year 9, 10, and 11 students have absolutely smashed their papers in incredible fashion. Years 9 and 10 sat their English functional skills or entry papers, and every single student passed the papers they completed with flying colours. This is a huge achievement and every single one of them should be very proud of themselves.

What has made me especially proud this year, as Head of English, is the resilience, ambition, and achievement of our year 11 cohort. We have, for the first time, had a 100% attendance rate to GCSE English Language - something that even top independent schools across the country can't always boast of. Ty, Zak, Andy, Millie, Ryan, Jon, Louie, and Rion should all be celebrated for their absolute resolve and integrity in the face of what will have been a really tough and stressful time whether they slaved away at their GCSE paper or excelled in their functional skills. Whatever the results, I will be forever impressed and humbled by their hard work. We wish you all the best for the future!
