Morrison’s Work Experience - Students from Capricorn, Scorpio and Gemini recently enjoyed an exciting work experience visit to Morrisons, where they had the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience and learn more about careers in the retail industry. During the visit, each class split into two groups to experience different areas of the store. One group worked alongside Morrisons colleagues to learn about the online ordering process. They discovered how customer orders are picked, packed and prepared for collection and delivery, including getting Deliveroo orders ready to be sent out.
Meanwhile, the second group took on the challenge of finding the ingredients needed for a specific meal by navigating the store. Once they had collected all of their items, they headed to the checkouts where they practiced scanning products, using the tills and learning how the checkout system works. As part of the experience, students also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the warehouse, giving them an insight into how stock is stored and managing to keep the store running efficiently.
The visit was a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their confidence, teamwork and communication skills while experiencing what it is like to work in a busy retail environment. Our students were a real credit to Harmood School throughout the visit. Their excellent behaviour, enthusiasm and willingness to learn were praised by the Morrisons team, who provided some wonderful feedback about how engaged and respectful the students were.
